Typography
As a specialty trainer for the Disneyland Resort, I trained hundreds of cast in the Disney font, shadow writing, oil painting, and the efficiency needed to fulfill over 400+ orders a day with our small team of ten artists during the holiday season.
I can confidently replicate and produce a wide-range of fonts both by hand and digitally for all types of uses.
Hand-Painting
As a non-automated personalization specialist (hand-painter) for the Disneyland Resort, my job was to take and fulfill guest orders in an efficient and friendly manner, while maintaining the expected Disney quality with every order.
While performing my daily role for the operation, I also worked to expand and elevate the department, which included pitching and getting a line of inclusive art and lettering options such as rainbow writing for names, the ability to write pronouns on items, and a variety of color options to represent the individual communities that make up the whole of the LGBTQ+ spectrum.
I also represented the department on social media and did an interview for the official Disney cast page to amplify the voice of our little shop and our hand-painted ornaments and mouse ears.
Embroidery
While working in the embroidery shop on Mainstreet, I advised guests on color, sizing, and placement for their embroidery on cloth items. I then placed and fulfilled the guest order within (or earlier) than their quoted time and folded the item for presentation at pick-up.
I am comfortable operating large-scale embroidery machines (up to four at a time), while still fielding guest questions, and continuing to place and program orders into the machines simultaneously.
While I did not have previous embroidery machinery experience, I was able to learn the operation of the machines and the work-flow in a matter of days and was fully proficient by the end of my first week, working one of the busiest days in the year, Disneyland’s anniversary, with ease.
Stroller & ECV Rental
I started with the company in the rental shop for Electric Convenience Vehicles, Wheelchairs, and Strollers. Working in this location taught me about accessibility and gave me the chance to talk with people from all over the world and all walks of life.
Practical skills from this location include: discussing sensitive topics in an empathetic manner, assisting guests with a wide range of disabilities and organizing accommodations to make their day the best it can be, sanitizing and lifting objects 50lbs or more regularly, cash-handling, operating in a fast-paced work environment both in a team and individual setting, and providing the world-class guest service Disney is known for at all times of day.
